Letter from Birmingham Jail Dr. Martin Luther King is writing a letter to clergymen who ar against his consummations in Birmingham, Alabama. At this time he was the chairman of the Confederate Christian Leadership Conference. He was pick outed to cause to Birmingham to engage in a non-violent direct activeness program. He says he is in Birmingham because injustice is here. He feels that injustice anyplace is a little terror to it everywhere. Whatever affects one flat affect all indirectly. He explains that the nonviolent protests are referable to the fact that the white personnel structure as leave the Negro community with no alternative. He tells the clergy that yes, we should negotiate, but the sit-ins and boundary are direct action that he feels is necessary. Our direct action program is hoping to create sufficient confusion and chaos so that it lead open the limen to negotiation. He says that justice, too eagle-eyed delayed is justice denied. He says tha t the Negro has become animated tarrying for the time to ask for equality. Tired of non beingness able to access, restaurants, motels, de gentle parks, and so on Tired of segregation. He says they only demerit unjust laws. In 1954, segregation was outlawed but appease exists so they will break laws that allow segregation.
