The Proclamation of 1973 was issued October 7, 1763, by King George III following Great Britains acquisition of french territory in North America after the end of the French and Indian War. The Proclamation of 1763 forbade English colonists to live westerly of the Appalachian Mountains. Any settlers currently west of the mountains had to move stand east.
